Kim Brooks

After a 12 year coaching stint in Houston, Texas Kim returned to her roots in Canada in 2009.   As one of the top private softball coaches in Houston, Kim was the owner of The Ball Club Training Center where she successfully trained some of Houston’s top athletes from beginner to college levels.  She also was an assistant coach at Blinn College. 
 
Kim was a pitcher on several provincial and national championship teams in BC and attended Arizona Western College and The University of Oklahoma on a softball scholarship.  Since returning to Canada Kim has been coaching in Maple Ridge as well as doing clinics in Maple Ridge.
 
Kim was the director of player and coach development for the Ridge Meadows Minor Softball Association.  Kim has helped over 50 athletes achieve their dreams of a college scholarship through softball.  Kim has been a Synergy Coach since 2011. Kim has 15 year old twin daughters Brinn and Soleil.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
  • Arizona Western College – NJCAA All-American and National Champions
  • University of Oklahoma – All-Big 8 selection
  • Renegades - Sr. Women’s 3 time National Champions

Kelly Stead

Kelly Stead has been a coach for over 20 years and is currently a Coach Garibaldi Softball Academy, a partnership between School District 42 and Ridge Meadows Minor Softball Association (RMMSA).  He has his NCCP Level 1, Level 2 and Certification, as well as 2 years of Advanced Coach Training through Douglas Community College.
  • His coaching achievements include:
  • 2006 Western Canadian Bronze Medal
  • Synergy Team in 2011, 2012 and 2015
  • 2012 Senior Women’s Provincial Bronze
  • 2011 U14 Provincial Silver
  • Between 2008 and 2010 – Gold Medalists in World Series Utah, USA
  • 2 Provincial Silver Medals, One Gold and One Bronze

Kelly is known for encouraging players of all ages and levels to play at their full potential and to exceed their expectations. Kelly has connections to schools and coaches in the USA who contact him for his expertise and recruitment. He has sent players who have played in Conference Championships, played USA College Nationals with some breaking college records.

Katelyn Ross

Katelyn Ross is the Head Coach at Garibaldi Softball Academy, a partnership between School District 42 and Ridge Meadows Minor Softball Association (RMMSA).
Katelyn was one of the first RMMSA players to receive an international scholarship.  She played 2 years for a Division 1 Junior College in Kansas and 2 years with Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where she completed her degree.
Over her fast pitch career, Katelyn has been honored with many awards including Golden Glove awards, All Conference awards, Stolen Base records, and On Base Average records.  She has competed in a NJCAA national tournament.
Katelyn has a personal and informative knowledge when it comes to filming recruitment videos, out fielding, mid in-fielding, bunting and right handed hitting/ left handed slapping.  In addition, she has a professional background with direct training levels in college athletics and the core values of training.

Larissa Franklin

Larissa has been a member of the National Softball Team since 2013. She is a Pan American Gold Medalist and 2-time World Bronze Medalist.
Larissa completed her collegiate softball career at Western Kentucky University after spending three years at Fort Wayne University in Indiana. In 2015, she returned home to Maple Ridge, BC with a degree in Psychological Science. She is currently in her 7th year on the National Team with her sights set on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Away from Softball, Larissa works as the Program Assistant for KidSport BC.

Kelsey Morgan

Ever since 2009 Kelsey has been playing ‘A’ ball. Kelsey started by learning how to pitch with Doug and Bill and as she got older she started going to lessons with Kim Brooks where she learnt so much. Kelsey’s pitches are fastball, changeup, curve, drop, screw, rise, and off-speed drop.

Throughout Kelsey’s years she has won over 10 MVP’s for her pitching accolades as well as many other achievements:

  • 2009: Mite Select Provincial Champions
  • 2010: Top ’99 team in BC
  • 2011: 2nd Place provincials- U12
  • 2012: 3rd Place Western Canadians-U12
  • 2013: 2nd Place Provincials-U14
  • 2009-2014: Various tournaments throughout Canada and the
  • United States. Placing in top 3 in many.
  • 2015: ASA Sidewinders Invitational tournament - Silver Medal
  • 2015: Pride & Power Tournament - Silver Medal
  • 2015: Ridge Meadows Summer Series - Gold Medal
  • 2015: 2nd place Provincials – U16
  • 2015: Canadian Nationals Bowl Division - Gold Medal
  • 2016: 3rd Place them each Provincials- U18

Kelsey enjoys working with students and helping each of them to reach their specific goals. Kelsey is available for private lessons as well as coaching development sessions for pitching.

Bobbi Berkey - Pitching Instructor 

Since 2007 Bobbi has played rep A softball in both Maple Ridge and White Rock. She started pitching with Doug and quickly moving to lessons with Kim Brooks. Over the years Bobbi not only took lessons with Kim but also assisted in coaching some clinics.
Bobbi’s pitches include: Fast pitch, change up, drop, curve, screw, rise, curve drop, off speed drop & off-speed screw.
Her achievements include:
  • 2007- Mite Select Champion Gold
  • 2009- U12 Provincial Champion Gold
  • 2011- Western Canadian Championship Gold
  • 2011- Pride and Power Gold
  • 2013- Pride and Power Silver
  • 2007-2015 Places in Multiple Canadian and US Tournaments
Bobbi also received MVP in multiple tournaments during her years playing. In 2015, while playing for Synergy Gold, Bobbi accepted a full athletic scholarship to Blinn College in Brenham Texas. Current Assistant coach with Rage 2004. Bobbi loves working with students to get them where they want to be.

Mana Holmes - MSA 1.5-hour full training instructor

A native of Osaka, Japan. The Founder and Director of Mana Sports Academy (MSA fastpitch). She is dedicated to Player development and very focused on individual development. She works closely with Former Olympic Gold medalists of Team Japan to improve herself on a daily basis.

Mana’s softball career went many years, including playing all three years on Osaka U18 softball team as starting SS. Her team won many Championships and in 1998, won all their games in districts and prefectures cup to lead the team and got awarded the silver medal in Japanese National Championship, out of over 100 teams.

During many years of training at the highest level, Mana was also invited to a strengthening camp with many athletes including some Olympic medalists.

Now with MSA, She coaches young athletes in a Japanese style of approach and techniques to help many girls to reach their highest potential both physically and mentally.
