Good Afternoon:

Below is the information received from Softball BC on November 21st, 2020, regarding INDIVIDUAL players. As explained below as long as the player is in the SAME Health region they may participate with their team.

Email from Rick Benson, SBBC, November 21, 2020:

“The board of directors have approved a clarification for members of a team travelling to their respective team activities.

Under the current PHO orders restricting travel by sports groups, teams are required to hold activities within their own community and not travel to another community for softball activities.

For athletes and coaches who are a member of a team, but live in a different community, Softball BC is defining permissible travel to be within your provincial health region. A member of a team may travel to their team’s softball activities as long as the participant is staying within the same health region.

As an example, a team based in Coquitlam shall hold their training sessions in Coquitlam only, but if a member of the team lives in Burnaby, or Ridge Meadows, or Surrey, they are permitted to attend that activity. A member of the team who lives in Vancouver would not be permitted to attend that Coquitlam activity as they live in the Vancouver Coastal health region.

If you are not sure, travel is restricted to local areas, and please remember to follow all current protocols, including screening, attendance tracking, physical distancing and frequent sanitizing. As well, for all indoor activities, it is mandatory for all participants to wear a mask.

The key is staying consistent with our safety plans and following them to the best of our ability.

Let’s all make sure we are doing what is necessary to help flatten the curve again.

Regards
Rick Benson”

Thank you,
